How to Start a Craft Club

Smart Art & Craft all started when I decided that because I was a home-schooler, I didn't see my school friends as often as I did before. So my mum and I were thinking of ways for me and my friends to see more of each other. We came up with the idea of a girls club, just for making crafts, which would take place at my house every Monday fortnight. I would be the organiser and host, with the help of one of my best friends.

Our idea turned out to be very popular. At first we had about 9 people coming to the sessions. That first afternoon we did some beading: making earrings and bracelets. I would be sending out an e-mail to all the members every Thursday, to note them of the activity and other details of the next session that would be taking place.

We started the club in 2008, but by 2009 lots of my friends were very busy in high school and things didn't look too good for the club. Actually we had to close down because too many of my friends couldn't make it any more. So I suggest that if you do want to start a craft club, make sure you have an idea of how many people you want to come, because probably lots of them won't, if they have lots of school work to do.

Even though starting a big craft club sounds fun, it is a big responsibility. If you want to make it good, with no problems, it is very hard work. You will never guess how hard it is to find crafts for groups! That is why I decided to make this website; to help you with finding some great craft ideas for you and your friends to enjoy! J

If you think the big craft club idea sounds too tiresome then why can't you just have 1 or 2 of your best friends come over to chat over some beadwork or sewing? It's just as good and you can have just as much fun J
